How much does it cost to hire a princess for a Disney Themed Birthday Party?

I get it. You're planning your child's birthday party and you want it to be absolutely magical. When you hire a princess for a birthday party, it's to make their dreams come true, but you're also wondering about the cost and investment.

After 13 years in business and over 350 parties each year, I've learned exactly what makes a princess party worth every penny, and what warning signs you should look out for, to get the most for your money. Let me share everything you need to know about princess party pricing so you can make the best decision for your family.

Understanding Princess Party Pricing

Most character party companies charge between $150 and $700 per hour, with most professional companies falling in the $300-$500 range for a standard one-hour party. Many companies offer a discount on that second hour, so definitely ask about that when you're getting quotes. The exact cost depends on several factors including quality of costumes, location, and most importantly, the quality and experience level of the performers.

If you find a company with prices that seem too good to be true, they probably are. I've seen so many heartbroken parents who booked with the cheapest company only to have them cancel at the last minute or send someone who looked nothing like the character their child was expecting.

Why Do Princess Party prices vary so much?

Let's take a closer look at why not all princess party companies are created equal.

Budget companies

  • High school students with no theatrical training

  • Halloween-quality costumes and wigs (or sometimes no wigs at all)

  • No planned party program, often disorganized

  • No background checks or insurance

Mid-range companies

  • Mix of amateur performers and some with little to no experience

  • Mid-quality costumes and wigs

  • Activities planned, but not a full production experience

  • May or may not include background checks

Professional companies

  • Professional actors and vocalists with theatrical degrees

  • High-quality costumes, wigs, and accessories that look movie-accurate

  • Full production value with attention to the five senses

  • Background-checked performers and full insurance

  • Structured party program designed to captivate children

No matter what type of company you choose, it will still be an investment. Deciding what you value most will help you make the best choice for your family. Many companies allow for payment plans when booking well in advance too, so it doesn't have to be burdensome to choose a more professional company if that's what you really value most.

Questions to Ask When Comparing Prices

Before you book based on price alone, talk to a person at each company, and ask these key questions:

  • "Are the performers in your website photos actually from your company?"

  • "Are you local to the area?"

  • "Are your performers background checked?"

  • "Do you carry insurance?"

  • "Can you send me some videos of what you do?"

  • "When you're hiring performers, do you require them to have theatrical experience or experience with kids?"

You'd be surprised how many companies when hiring post notices saying "No experience necessary, willing to train." This is a sign that you may not get a performer assigned to your party, that is a good fit for this type of entertainment.

We also see national companies use stock photos or images that aren't their actual performers. Some larger call-center companies aren't even local, they're just middlemen trying to book local performers. Here's what happens... Even if you book 30 days in advance with these national companies, they often don't contact local performers until just days before your party. By then, the good local companies are already booked. The result? The national company will cancel on you last-minute and blame the local company, and you're left scrambling to find entertainment the day before or day of your party.

Holiday Pricing

If you're planning a party around a holiday, keep in mind that most professional companies (including us) use peak pricing for major holidays. This can range from time-and-a-half to double the regular rate, depending on the holiday. It's just the reality of hiring professional performers during high-demand times.

Is It Really Worth the Investment to hire a princess for a birthday party?

When you hire a princess for a birthday party, you're not just paying for entertainment, you're investing in memories that will last forever. We want this to be a core memory for you, your child, and everyone who celebrates with you.

Here's why families tell us it was worth every penny:

You're saving money in the long run. It's less expensive than taking your family on a trip to meet characters of similar quality, and you get the entire experience personalized for your child.

Everything is taken care of. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy the party and be present in the moment instead of stressing about keeping everyone entertained.

The whole family is captivated. Our performers engage everyone from toddlers to grandparents. We've seen adults get just as excited as the kids!

You choose the location. We travel to you, whether that's your home, a park, or a party venue.

The memories last a lifetime. Your family and friends will be talking about your party for years to come, recalling the magical time everyone had.

Smart Booking Tips

Want to make sure your princess party goes off without a hitch? Here's what I recommend:

Book 30-60 days in advance. This ensures you get your preferred date and the character your child is dreaming about.

Read beyond the star rating. Don't just look at the number of stars a company has, but take time to read through the reviews to understand people's real experiences.

Choose local. Trusted local companies like ours have better quality control than nationwide call centers. You know exactly what you're getting, and you're supporting a small business in your community.

Ask about extras. Want to make the day even more special? Ask about adding balloon twisting, face painting, glitter tattoos, additional characters, or party favors.

Look for one-stop convenience. A well-connected local company, that can provide multiple services in one booking, makes your life so much easier.
